Our Story
Fa’atasi Youth Services Inc. began summer programming in 2011 in collaboration with Camp Unit and P.I.C.P. We taught Samoan language, Polynesian dances, and Polynesian culture. Our goal was to keep the Polynesian culture alive through the youth. We served ages 5- 18 and were blessed to work with over 200 youths. We ended summer programming in the summer of 2018. We took a break in 2019 and closed programming due to Covid in 2020.
In 2021, we revamped our program to strictly focus on physical activities with health and wellness for our Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) youth. We collaborate with the Samoan Community Development Center’s Pacific Islanders Youth Alliance program to provide athletic activities to their youth.
In addition to providing athletics to the P.I.Y.A. youth, we began running Open Family Gym nights in October 2022. Our future goals include running athletic tournaments/ leagues for basketball, volleyball, softball, and working on providing nutrition classes for NHPI youth.
MISSION
Our Mission is to lower the obesity rate within the Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander youth by promoting health through fitness and recreational opportunities.
